Jesus Feeds the 5,000

Sep 13, 2026  •  Jamin Grubbs

When life gets busy—even with good things—Jesus shows us a better way.

In Mark 6:30–44, Pastor Jamin Grubbs walks through the feeding of the five thousand and draws out three lessons from dinner: solitude, compassion, and service.

Jesus first calls His disciples to come away and rest with Him. When the crowd follows, He sees them with compassion rather than frustration. Then, when thousands need to be fed, Jesus tells His disciples, “You give them something to eat.”

This message reminds us that following Jesus is not simply about doing more. We need intentional time with Christ. We need hearts that genuinely see the needs of people around us. And when Jesus calls us to serve, we do not have to wait until we feel talented enough or have everything figured out.

Jesus cares more about our availability than our ability. He can use what we already have when we surrender it to Him—and ultimately, Jesus is enough.

If this message encouraged you, share it with someone who needs the reminder to rest in Christ, see people with compassion, or simply put their “yes” on the table.

Question for you: Which of these three lessons do you most need this week—solitude, compassion, or service?
