The Danger of Rejecting Jesus

In Mark 3:20–35, Jesus faces rejection from two different directions. His family thinks He is out of His mind, and the religious leaders accuse Him of working by the power of Satan. But Jesus responds with clarity, authority, and a serious warning about rejecting the work of the Holy Spirit.

In this message from The Gospel According to Mark, Pastor Jamin walks through one of the most sobering passages in Mark’s Gospel: the warning about blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. The sermon reminds us that the Holy Spirit convicts, draws, and opens our eyes to see Jesus rightly. To continually reject His witness is a dangerous place to be.

But this passage also gives us hope. Jesus says that whoever does the will of God is His brother and sister and mother. The acceptance of Jesus is far greater than the rejection of man. If the Holy Spirit is convicting your heart, that is not a reason to run from God — it is an invitation to respond to Jesus with repentance, faith, and surrender.
